archives
instead of having a photographer come in we had someone come in from the national archives. she came in and talked about the role photographers play in the national archives. the ways photographers have to take care of the items that they are taking photos of because of the age/value.
on the road
We had an excursion snow gum studio out near Royalla, the photographer had her set so at different times of the day could best capture the sun. I found that i was interesting that it was an outside 'studio' and didnt use any flash. the quality that she strives for is to have a timeless feel to the photo I think that she achieves this very well in her photography.

ben - stock images
the idea behind stock images is to take photos that can be used in a wide range of uses. this is helped with the use of tags that might not seem to fit the photo, eg if a photo was taken of two kids hand in hand was taken - the tags could be mate ship, people, kids and for more abstract terms such as fun, adventure and care.

Hilary Wardhaugh
It was interesting to see some of the photos Hilary took, and it was good see her not only as a teacher but a great photographer also. hilary told us about how she became a master photographer in four years instead of ten, and all the awards she has won. she mostly focuses on wedding and Portrait photography. We also good and bad experineces she had.
SYDNEY
On (find date out date) to Sydney and were luck enough to visit three different studios in sydney. The studios that we visited mainly focused on different aspects of photography, for example the first was mainly wedding ,portraits the next was much more corprate and the last and the biggest by far was sun stuidos which pretty much did everything. It rents equiment out has people to edit photos if needed and they have six big stuidos, mostly use for fashion.

geoff comfort
Geoff comfort is a local architectural/aerial photographer, he also talked about overheads. He also had good points that Ben didn't touch on such as copywrite and insurance. Geoff said that you MUST always keep your copywrite, so you can claim extra money. Geoff also said that it is a very good idea to have public liability insurance Geoff has 20 million.

ben ........ wedding photographer
Ben is a wedding photographer that was self tought and has worked his way up now is winning awards internationally and with the aipp. He was really helpful about little things such as overheads and hidden costs. The hidden costs include *advertising, *camera wear, *electricity. Some of the trick that we were told about were things such as snakes for kids (so the kids warm up to him), scissors (for loss bit of the dresses), doing up ties of people that cant do them.
